Cornish Pasty

Description

Cornish pasty is a crispy English snack which comes from the district of Cornwall. It is basically a puffed pasty with delicious filling.

Ingredients

Salt, as required
250 g flour
Water, as required
2 tbsp vegetable oil
Freshly crushed black pepper, as required
100 g butter
2 eggs

For the filling:
200 g minced chicken
200 g chopped potato
100 g chopped onion

For the garnish:
1 sprig coriander leaves

Directions

Step 1
To prepare this palatable snack, first, take a large sized bowl. Then, add flour along with salt and butter in it and try to knead the mixture to make a soft dough. Also, add some water as required. The dough should neither be soft not too hard. Once you have prepared the dough, wrap it with a clingfilm and place it in refrigerator for 15 min.

Step 2
Now, take a medium sized pan and place it on medium flame. Then, pour oil in it and let it heat. Now, add onions to the pan and stir fry until translucent. After that, add chopped potatoes in the pan and cook them for next 5 minutes. Make sure that the potatoes have cooked well. Then, add minced chicken, salt, black pepper in the pan and stir fry until the chicken has cooked properly and keep aside.

Step 3
Next, take out the chilled dough from the refrigerator and divide it in 6 equal pieces. Then, take a piece of the dough ball. Roll and flatten it neatly. Then, place the prepared chicken mixture on one side of the circle and seal it using your fingertips to make the pasty. You may use a bit of water if required. Similarly, do the same with remaining dough balls.

Step 4
Now, take a medium sized bowl and crack the eggs in it. Beat the eggs properly. Then, brush the pasty with the beaten eggs evenly and place them in a baking tray.

Step 5
Lastly, preheat the oven to 220C. Then, place the baking tray for next 30 min. Once the pasties have baked perfectly, transfer them to a serving dish and garnish them with coriander leaves. You may divide each of them in 2 slices to consume easily.

Serve fresh.
