Frankfurter Bake

Description

This recipe originated from a children's cook book called "Casserole Cooking Fun", 1967 and is very simple to cook. I embellished it over the years with the help of one of my niece' with a bit of brown sugar, dry onions and liquid smoke. Original recipe only called for the frankfurters, beans, ketchup and cheese.

Ingredients

6-8 Frankfurters (Hotdogs) (I like to use beef, but any will do fine)
2 15oz cans Pork and Beans
2 tbsp dried onions
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tbsp Brown Sugar
1/2 teaspoon liquid moke (hickory or mesquite)
Mature cheese slices (optional)

Directions

1, Cut the FrankFurters into 1/2" slices.

2. Mix and combine All Ingredients (except cheese) in an oiled casserole dish.

3, Cover and bake in pre-heated 375 degree oven for 60 min. (Optional - uncover and top with cheese slices. Return to oven for cheese to melt.)
