Description

Enjoy this Krupnik recipe with just the right balance of spice, sweetness and punchy alcohol that you want from this Polish honey vodka.

Ingredients

250ml runny honey, preferably raw, wild or organic
250ml water, lukewarm
1/2 nutmeg
1 cinnamon stick
2 allspice berries
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1 vanilla pod
Orange peel, half an orange, dried out
70ml vodka, good quailty, 40%
Unsalted butter, to serve

Directions

1. Put the honey and warm water in a saucepan, and add the spices and orange peel. Heat gently until boiling, then simmer for 5 minutes. Skim off any foam. Remove from the heat and leave to cool.

2. Add the vodka and stir well. You can leave this to infuse overnight.

3. Strain through a muslin-lined sieve and pour into a bottle. Store in a cool, dark place for 2–3 days. Strain again through a muslin-lined sieve and transfer to a fresh bottle

4. To serve, heat the krupnik gently, and add a little knob of butter to each glass.

Cheers!
