Strawberry Slushie

Description

A refreshing strawberry lemonade.

Ingredients

3/4 cup water
3/4 cup lemonade concentrate (make it fresh or thaw from frozen)
250g frozen sweetened strawberries, thawed or freshly picked
3/4 cup ice cubes
1 cup lemon lime soda
1 small bottle of Sprite

Lemmonade concentrate:
1.5 cups fresh squeezed lemon juice
1 cup water
1.5 cups sugar

Directions

- In a blender, combine water, lemonade concentrate (see below on instructions on how to make this), strawberries, and ice.
- Blend until fully mixed and combined.
- Pour mixture into a freezer container and freeze for at least 12 hours (it can stay your freezer for up to 3 months). You can of course avoid the long freezing process if you can time the freezing consistency right just before the juice freezes - put it into the fridge for a an hour or two and check to see if you can stop it just before it freezes. Doing this can avoid you the next step.
- When you are ready to serve, remove from freezer and let it stand at room temperature to thaw for some time to get a slushie consistency (30mins - 1 hr should do it).
- Divide frozen slushie into a few glasses and pour 1/4 cup of Sprite into each cup. Serve immediately.

Lemonnade concentrate:
- In a small pan, bring sugar and water to a boil.
- Cook just until sugar dissolves.
- Remove from heat and cool.
- Squirt in lemon juice.
- Store in fridge covered until ready to use
