Hot Mulled Riesling


Description

It is an easy addition to any party or cosy evenings on your own. because it can be made up to a day or two ahead. Serve it from a slow cooker or a stove on warm, keep it covered so that it does not evaporate.

Ingredients

1 bottle (750 ml) semi-dry Riesling
3 cups apple cider
½ apple, sliced
The peel of half of an orange
The peel of half of a lemon
3 tbsp brown sugar
2 3 cinnamon sticks
1 star anise
5 to 6 whole cloves

Directions

Combine all of the ingredients in a covered pot.

Heat on medium-low heat for at least an hour to combine the flavours.

DO NOT bring to a boil.

Serve warm, such as from a slow cooker; be sure to keep it covered.

TIPS:
Use a vegetable peeler for the citrus peels to avoid the bitter white parts.
